With economists downgrading Montana’s economic forecast, and state revenue estimates expected to plummet in the next biennium, lawmakers are predicting a less contentious legislative session in January than in 2007.
Since there’s far less money to haggle over, leaders from both parties in the evenly divided state House of Representatives said they expect to see more cooperation as lawmakers hammer out a state budget.
Two key interim committees already heard bleak economic forecasts from legislative analysts and state economists this week.
