State taxpayer dollars could be better spent on things other than contract lobbyists.
That’s the view of Senate Ethics Committee Chairman Merle Flowers, R-Olive Branch, who chaired Senate Ethics Committee hearings at the Capitol this week.
Flowers said he anticipates legislation to “either ban the practice outright or make it transparent.” The 2009 legislative session begins in January.
