Wow – some pretty strong numbers. We’re not quite sure what to make of it all, though we’re pretty sure numbers like this will be used for political AND policy purposes in the coming elections. From KY3.com:
In Missouri, 41-percent of a poor and working class family’s income goes to a four-year public school when a student attends. In Arkansas, it’s 24-percent of a family’s income going to the college when a student attends.
“There’s a real consequence for the economy and American standard of living if we slip behind the rest of the world,” said Callan.
In this national study, California is the only state in the nation to receive a passing grade when it comes to affordability. California received a C-minus, thanks to the state providing 56 cents per $1 of Pell grant money.
