Remember the bridge to nowhere? Well the bill that little nugget was buried in was the largest transportation bill in history…and the size of this current bailout bill makes the price tag on that bill look like a few cents for some Bazooka Joe. We hope congressional leaders listen to the state leaders on the ground – who know exactly what the states need – versus what they want. From CQ Politics:
State transportation officials and city mayors lobbied Congress Monday with independent — and growing — wish lists of infrastructure projects they’d like to see included in an economic stimulus package.
All 50 states and the District of Columbia responded to an American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials survey released last week indicating that $64 billion worth of highway and bridge projects could be under contract within 180 days.
