Always a huge political issue in Tennessee. We imagine Democrats just want it to go away. From the Tennessean:
More than three dozen House Republicans in the General Assembly hope to head off new state taxes, pledging support on Thursday for a constitutional amendment that would prohibit an income or payroll tax.
Rep. Brian Kelsey, a Germantown Republican, and 39 other House Republicans, who gained a 50-49 majority on Nov. 4, have agreed to cosponsor the constitutional amendment.
“I hope to clarify once and for all that Tennessee is an anti-income tax state,” Kelsey said in a statement.
