From Argus Leader:
The battle over a bill that would ban smoking in restaurants, bars, casinos, video lottery establishments and hotels in South Dakota will be fought on economic and health care fronts, lawmakers and lobbyists say.
Senate Bill 83 was introduced Friday with bipartisan support from Republican and Democratic leaders in both the Senate and House. It seeks to eliminate exceptions to legislation passed in 2002 that banned smoking in most public workplaces.
Opponents of extending the ban will try to frame the discussion in terms of lost state revenue if smokers can’t light up as they play video lottery machines.
As in California, the ban will extend to peoples homes once these ban people get a foot in the door. Except for Pfizer running out of money for lobbyists, theres no stopping these fanatical zealots.
