Washington Dems playing wedge politics when they should be talking about doing their part to solve the fiscal crisis in their state. While jobs are being lost, state Democrats are talking about climate change in ways that could cost even more jobs. From the Olympian:
Majority Democrats are using “distractions” such as gay-rights issues to avoid dealing with the state’s major $6 billion budget problem, Republican legislative leaders said Wednesday.
Senate Republican Leader Mike Hewitt and House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt also cautioned that job losses in the region could grow larger as Democrats pursue a legislative agenda on climate change that might add regulatory burdens and costs to business.
“Many of the things they are doing today, we believe, are distractions from the real problems,” Hewitt said, referring to a series of news conferences called by Senate Democrats about issues including same-sex marriage, economic-stimulus proposals, minor cuts in spending and energy legislation. “These are all distractions from the real issue.”
