Citing the dangers of second-hand smoke, Democratic Gov. Tim Kaine and Republican House Speaker William Howell on Thursday announced a compromise that would ban smoking in most restaurants and bars in Virginia.
“The dangers of second-hand smoke are undeniable,” Kaine said in a press release. “This legislation will make Virginia’s restaurants safer for both patrons and employees.” Howell, a state delegate from Fredericksburg, joined Kaine in issuing the statement.
