This is just good politics. Republicans need to get in front of this thing before the Democrats get the credit for cleaning up the mess in Illinois – the mess that they made! From the Journal Standard:
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan wants to slap governments with up to a $1,000 fine for denying citizens the right to view public documents.
Madigan announced the fines Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in Springfield during an ethics committee meeting, saying she wants more transparency in government.
