Among the ideas posted:  Giving a six pack of locally brewed beer to every adult in the commonwealth – makes for some happy 18 year-olds’ no doubt – total cost – just over $46 million.  Legalizing marijuana – total cost – $0.  Buy the governor a one way ticket to Michigan – total cost – not provided.  There’s a business looking for taxpayer funded pool tables. – total cost – $200,000.  A state owned amusement park – total cost – $5 million.  From the Roanoke Times:

A state Web site has collected more than 3,300 ideas for projects that could be funded by the new federal economic stimulus and recovery package, and Virginia officials will begin evaluating those proposals late next week.

Gov. Tim Kaine said Monday that Stimulus.Virginia.Gov has been updated with interactive features that enable users to look up suggested projects by location or category.

“The new additions to Stimulus.Virginia.Gov will make the site even more useful to citizens, localities and organizations across the commonwealth as they can now monitor and obtain information for project ideas based on their specific interests,” Kaine said. “As we all begin the stimulus decision-making process, this information will help us better understand the needs of our citizens.”
