“In business, when you don’t show up to work you don’t get paid,” said House Majority Floor Leader Kathy Angerer, D-Dundee. She added that lawmakers with legitimate reasons for missing sessions, such as medical problems, would not be docked their pay.
The Democratic package also would require candidates for state elected office to disclose their personal finances, including assets and income. Angerer said Michigan is one of only three states that do not require any financial disclosure by state elected officials.
