Bet some ripples passed through the crowd when Ramsey broke this news. Have you seen his Facebook page? From the Commercial Appeal:
Ramsey, 53, whose office also carries the title of lieutenant governor, was on the program at the Greeneville event with three previously declared candidates — Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Bill Gibbons, Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and U.S. Rep. Zack Wamp of Chattanooga.
All three had addressed the crowd, according to The Greeneville Sun newspaper, when Ramsey took the stage to introduce state GOP chairman Robin Smith. The newspaper reported that Ramsey was “enthusiastically” applauded when he said, “I am here in Greene County to announce that I am going to be a candidate for governor” as well.
