From CJOnline:
“While I realize there are large numbers of people in the state who don’t know who the lieutenant governor is, I want them to be assured that I’m ready to serve when that time comes,” Parkinson said.
Timing of the transition is unclear, Parkinson said, because Senate confirmation hearings for Sebelius have yet to be scheduled. A Senate vote on President Barack Obama’s nomination of Sebelius might not be completed for several weeks.
Parkinson, 51, reiterated during a news conference he wouldn’t seek a full term as governor in 2010.
