From the Daily Times:
The Senate has voted to limit campaign contributions in New Mexico, one of only five states that doesn’t have caps. The bill went to the House on Thursday on a vote of 40-1.
“This bill may not be perfect, but I think it’s an incredibly important first step in a direction this state needs to go,” said Sen. Peter Wirth, D-Santa Fe, the bill’s sponsor.
The legislation caps donations to a candidate in a calendar year at $2,300 from an individual, $5,000 from a political committee and $10,000 from a political party.
