After the meeting, Brandenburg said Hasner was being “personally disrespectful” to her and fellow committee member Kelly Skidmore, D-Boca Raton. “Maybe it’s just because we’re women,” she said.
When pressed, Brandenburg said she had no reason to believe Hasner was sexist.
“It has been my general observation that many men in the process treat women with less respect than they do their male colleagues. But I do not wish to attribute that to Rep. Hasner,” she said. “I thought his responses to the Democrats were not collegial.”
Hasner said the suggestion of sexism was “absolutely offensive.”
