From Citizen-Times:
House Republican Leader Paul Stam says he’s disappointed that Gov. Bev Perdue’s budget plan doesn’t call for the sacrifice he was expecting.
Republican leaders in the House and Senate weighed in at a news conference today on the budget Perdue, a Democrat, released Tuesday.
Among their critiques:
• The budget would raise cigarette and alcohol taxes by more than $1 billion over two years, which GOP leaders said is inappropriate in a recession.

It is alway cigarettes and alcohol. Do they not realize that it is the lower income demograhic that she will be taxing. Why don’t they impose a tax on the top 25% for a change. Why do they not tax all of the employers that sent the jobs over seas!!
