From Statesman Journal:
For one thing, Democrats and Republicans are far more polarized over tax-and-spend issues than they were in 1982. And anti-tax increase activists are ready to pounce with a campaign to try to derail any income tax increase by referring it to a statewide vote.
“We’ve already begun discussions with others about a potential referral effort,” said Russ Walker, the Oregon director of the national fiscal conservative group FreedomWorks.
The Legislature’s majority Democrats are looking at various tax increases in the face of a budget shortfall currently pegged at $3 billion but which could end up being much higher than that in the next two years.
How about a state-wide flat tax initiative. 5%, otherwise, we boycott the economy by withdrawing our talents.
I have my savings and can weather the storm much better than the voters who installed these political thieves. Let them attack each other.
