From the Examiner:
Alaska House lawmakers are threatening to impose a nearly $16 a barrel surcharge on North Slope crude destined for Washington state.
The measure is a saber rattling response to a bill in the Washington legislature that would tax fuel refined in Washington and exported to other states, including Alaska.
The Washington measure could impose a fuel tax as high as 37.5 cents a gallon on those deliveries, raising about $500 million a year for statewide transportation projects. It had a single committee hearing on March 17 and looks unlikely to pass this session.
