Democrats Reject Governor Palin’s Selection for Senate

An interesting process story on how Alaska fills state legislative vacancies.  Of course, you could read into it that Alaska Senate Democrats were playing political games by only submitting one name for Governor Palin’s consideration.  From KTUU.com:

Gov. Sarah Palin’s choice to fill a Senate seat in Juneau was rejected Wednesday. There was not enough support among Senate Democrats for Tim Grussendorf, and now the governor must make another selection.

The meeting began Wednesday afternoon in Sen. Johnny Ellis’ office.

As majority leader, it falls on Ellis to head up the confirmation process among nine Senate Democrats.
