From Quad-City Times:
A Waterloo lawmaker saved the day Thursday for a woman who was choking on food at the Capitol cafeteria.
Sue Jennings, an employee with the Legislative Services Agency, was eating a Maid-Rite sandwich when a piece lodged in her throat. Jennings signaled to people at the next table with her hands to her neck that she was chocking.
Rep. Kerry Burt, a Democrat from Waterloo and a firefighter, performed the Heimlich maneuver on Jennings to clear her airway.
“I guess he was in the right place at the right time,” Jennings said.
