From WVGazette:
Drivers on the West Virginia Turnpike could face a big toll hike beginning this summer.
On Monday, board members of the West Virginia Parkways Economic Development and Tourism Authority accepted two engineering studies on the 88-mile road’s maintenance needs and revenue forecasts in light of debt service requirements.
After looking at various scenarios, engineers recommended a 60 percent toll increase, combined with a 25 percent E-ZPass discount. That represents the lowest possible increase with the largest possible discount, board members say.
Under the proposal, cars would pay $2 per barrier, up from the current $1.25.
