TN Senate Passes Voter ID Bill

This bill ultimately passed the Tennessee State Senate 29-3 – the 3 no’s were all Democrats.  From CommercialAppeal.com:

Most Tennesseans would be required to produce a government-issued photo identification card prior to voting if a bill approved by the state Senate Monday night becomes law.

The measure has long been sought by Republicans, but most Democrats ended up voting for it after its sponsor, Sen. Bill Ketron, R-Murfreesboro, agreed to accept a Democratic amendment exempting voters ages 65 and up from the photo-ID requirement. Four GOP senators voted against that exemption: Sens. Mae Beavers of Mt. Juliet, Dewayne Bunch of Cleveland, Diane Black of Gallatin and Jack Johnson of Franklin.
