From the Fayette Daily News:
With all of these responsibilities, it is no wonder that prior attorneys general in Georgia stepped down when they decided to seek higher office, especially the office of governor.
Like Virginia’s Attorney General, Georgia’s Attorney General, Thurbert Baker. has also announced his candidacy for governor.
Unfortunately, that is where the similarities end. Unlike his counterpart in Virginia, as well as many of his Democratic and Republican predecessors in Georgia, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Baker, through his spokesman Russ Willard, confirmed that he will not resign as Georgia’s attorney general before his term ends in 2010.
In the end, Thurbert Baker’s decision either says a lot about him, or more likely, what he thinks of the job of being Georgia’s attorney general.
Neither is good for the people of Georgia.
