Probably illegal? If you can’t have the government and taxpayers kick some money into to help your constituents like this, what’s being an elected official worth? From MyFox Memphis:
Tennessee’s attorney general says a state license plate that allocates money to a church would probably be ruled illegal.
The opinion by Attorney General Robert E. Cooper Jr. came after Sen. Ophelia Ford and Rep. Karen Camper — both Memphis Democrats — proposed a bill creating a special plate for the Church of God in Christ, which is based in Memphis.
Money from the sale of the plates would fund the denomination’s charities
