Texas House Speaker Ready for Another Term

The Speaker thinks the time to get moving on that 2011 Speakers race is now. A smart move on a variety of fronts. From Texas Politics:
“Out of an abundance of caution, it was time to file the papers so that I could have those discussions,” Straus said.
The 150 House members will elect their leader in January 2011 – the next time they open a new regular legislative session.
Straus became the first San Antonioan elected House speaker in nearly 100 years when he ousted former speaker Tom Craddick in January.
