MS: Dem AG Jim Hood Unsure About Run for Governor

Jim Hood will not be running for Governor.  Given the amount of negative press he and his key political and financial supporters have gotten over the past months and years, we’d be surprised if he ran for re-election.  Though, if he does, 2011 will be the year when he’s most vulnerable.  The hits from 2007 will be nothing compared to what awaits him (we suppose) in 2011.   From zwire.com:

The state official said before his campaign for his present position, he had never considered a career in politics and he had to explore his options. However, Hood said he was pleased with his job and not looking for a change.

“I know I’m going to run for attorney general or something else, but I haven’t made that decision yet,” he said.

Gov. Haley Barbour has served two terms and must step down at the completion of this term under mandatory term limits laws.

He only received MORE votes than any other statewide candidate in 2007…more than Governor Haley Barbour (R), more than Lt Gov Phil Bryant(R), more than Treasurer Tate Reeves(R), more than State Auditor Stacey Pickering(R), more than Sec of State Delbert Hoseman (R), more than Insurance Commissioner MIke Chaney(R), and more than Ag Commissioner Lester Spell(R). His enemies pulled out every dirty trick they could against him, but the voters did not buy the lies. In the end, his record of fighting for Mississippi families was what mattered to voters in 2007, and he continues to fight for those families to this day. Whatever he decides to run for in 2011, the results will be the same.
