State Sen. Dean Skelos, who is leading the charge against the Ravitch appointment saw it differently. He responded by saying the governor might have “bought himself a little time,” but that the courts would ultimately rule in his favor.
Both sides expect the final decision to be made by the Court of Appeals, which is New York’s highest court.
Ravitch’s appointment became a bit less dramatic after state Sen. Pedro Espada rejoined the Democratic caucus earlier this month, thus breaking the 31-31 tie that had led to a month of inactivity in the chamber.
