From the Morning Sentinel:
State Sen. Peter Mills, of Cornville, announced his candidacy for governor Tuesday — his second try at the state’s top job.
Mills, a Republican, joins a field of 13 that includes three other Republicans, four Democrats, two Green Independents and four unenrolled candidates.
The 66-year-old said the theme of his campaign will be “rebuilding” the state, including state government, schools and roads.
“State government is broken,” he said in a statement. “If we could fix it with a hammer and nails, I’d be at work today with my tool belt. But it will take more than simple carpentry to reconstruct the state for our people’s future.”
