From NewsOK:
State Rep. Kris Steele, R-Shawnee, will be the next speaker — assuming the GOP retains control of the House and the Republican caucus remains committed to him. His only rival for the job, Rep. Ken Miller of Edmond, has bowed out and endorsed Steele.
The position both men were seeking and Steele has apparently won is officially “speaker-designate.” Rep. Chris Benge of Tulsa will remain as speaker through the 2010 legislative session. Caucus members will vote in October on the designated successor to Benge.
