Whether it was to vent his frustration, get a laugh or fire up talks on the incomplete state budget, Gov. Ed Rendell managed to accomplish all three on Tuesday through a remark he made about the House-Senate conference committee’s initial meeting two weeks ago.
The conference committee formed to resolve the state budget dispute accomplished little in those meetings except to determine protocol, rules and who would be its chairman before it was abruptly ended.
Rendell said the meetings, which were televised live on Pennsylvania Cable Network, reminded him of a scene from a James Bond movie.
