Another one down… State Senator says, No thanks
RALEIGH, N.C. — Democratic state Sen. Kay Hagan said Monday she won’t run for the U.S. Senate next year against GOP U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, saying she can better serve North Carolina as one of the Legislature’s top budget-writers.
Hagan is a five-term lawmaker and attorney from Greensboro who has served as a co-chairwoman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee since 2003. Hagan said Dole is “definitely vulnerable,” but added “I can do more for the citizens of North Carolina and Guilford County with my current job.”
