From OregonLive.com:
Republican leaders in the Oregon House, after watching three Democratic legislators slide into well-paid executive jobs in state government, say they will introduce legislation requiring a long cooling off period before lawmakers can move into executive-branch jobs.
House Minority Leader Bruce Hanna, R-Roseburg, says the waiting period would be modeled after the current prohibition against legislators quickly morphing into paid lobbyists. Under a 2007 ethics law, lawmakers have to wait until the end of next regular session before they can join the lobbying ranks.
It’s doubtful that Democratic legislative leaders will open this can of worms at the Legislature’s next session in February. But it certainly gives Republican legislators another issue to carry into the fall election campaigns.
