From BurlingtonFreePress:
Mark Snelling, son of the late Gov. Richard Snelling and former Lt. Gov. Barbara Snelling and brother of state Sen. Diane Snelling, said Tuesday that he’s considering a run for governor or lieutenant governor. Like the rest of the politicians in his family, he would run as a Republican.
Snelling is another in a mushrooming list of people who suddenly saw new political opportunities after Gov. Jim Douglas announced last week he wouldn’t seek re-election to a fifth term.
On the Republican side, two people who have interest in running for governor — Sen. Randy Brock of Swanton and former Sen. John Bloomer of Rutland — have said they would defer to Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie if he chose to seek the state’s top job. Dubie has said he would make his decision soon.
