Saying he wants to focus on his legislative leadership duties, House Speaker Chris Benge R-Tulsa, said Thursday he does not intend to run for state treasurer or seek any other political office at this time.
Benge, who cannot seek re-election because of legislative term limits, said he wants to concentrate on the duties of his powerful House position.
Benge was elected to the House in 1998. By the time his term ends in November 2010, he will have served the full 12 years in the Legislature allowed under the state constitution.
