From NorthJersey.com:
Like W’s numbers that led to a Democrat rout in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives last November, this could cause some Democrat New Jersey Assembly candidates to lose this Election Day. Polls show Republicans holding leads in five current Democratic-held districts. You won’t see those candidates asking Jon to campaign with them this fall but they’ll take his money.
In a solid blue/Democrat New Jersey everyone agrees that the race will tighten significantly. There are 1.7 million registered Democrats compared to approximately only 1 million Republicans in the state. The Democrats’ well-oiled, get-out-the-vote campaign fueled by the governor’s money will assure a close race. Election Day cash, known as “street money,” is used to pay what Democrats call “volunteers” to get voters to the polls in mostly urban areas. It is completely legal but subject to abuse and has always struck me as a bit unseemly.
The election will be decided by the more than 2.5 million unaffiliated voters, and those voters so far are breaking for Christie and many of those are right now ABC voters, Anybody But Corzine. Some of you might not know that there is a third independent candidate in the race, Chris Daggett.
