Strange things are afoot in the race to fill the open AG’s seat in Florida. Republican nominee Bill McCollum was getting ready to do battle with trial lawyer and State Senator Walter “Skip” Campbell when on the last day of filing one Merrilee Ehrlich, a Pompano Beach lawyer, contributor to Campbell’s AG’s race, and former Campbell client, paid the over $7,000 filing fee and got into the Democrat primary against Campbell.
To borrow from Bill McCollum’s campaign manager: “I'm suspicious that this means that Skip Campbell may be doing something to undermine the electoral process in some way,” McCollum campaign manager Phil Vangelakos said. “I'm very skeptical, and I don't like it. Obviously, there are connections here.”
