From thespectrum.com:
Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff appeared at Dixie State College, Tuesday, providing tips for avoiding and dealing with identity theft, while also touting improvements to the state’s innovative identity theft reporting Web site.
The site, known as the Identity Theft Reporting System, is a place where victims can file reports with law enforcement online in one centralized location. Since its creation in 2006 it has helped more than 2,400 victims.
“We decided we needed to be a leader here in Utah,” Shurtleff said, “It was imperative that we come around the state.”
Shurtleff, along with identity theft expert Scott Morill, said the system has become so successful that other states have shown interest in adopting similar measures.
