From Central Valley Business Times:
Central Valley native John Garamendi is giving up his job as lieutenant governor of the state of California to become a member of Congress.
Mr. Garamendi was elected Tuesday to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Ellen Tauscher, who left that job to become an undersecretary in the State Department. The election keeps the congressional seat firmly in the Democratic column.
His political career started in 1974 when he was an Assembly member from Sacramento County.
