From IdahoStatesman.com:
State Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Eagle, has filed a Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission and has begun fundraising for the GOP contest to face freshman Democratic Rep. Walt Minnick in 2010.
Labrador plans an opening campaign swing Monday, with stops in Boise and Coeur d’Alene. He will be at the Legislative Annex on Jefferson Street at 10:30 a.m. and in Coeur d’Alene at 4:30 p.m.
The two-term lawmaker was a vocal opponent of Gov. Butch Otter’s fuel tax increases in 2009. In 2008, he was a key player in the ouster of Idaho GOP Chairman Kirk Sullivan – Otter’s choice – who was defeated by now-Chairman Norm Semanko.
