From amNews.com:
Signs encouraging Mercer Countians to vote for Jimmy Higdon and Jodie Haydon are all over the county, but with only a little more than a week to campaign, many people don’t know who Higdon and Haydon are, or what they’re voting for.
On Monday, about 100 junior and senior students at Mercer County Senior High School and Burgin Independent Schools got the chance to hear from Democrat Jodie Haydon and Republican Jimmy Higdon and their stances on state issues. The men will face off in a special election Dec. 8 for the open 14th district state senate seat.
The seat became vacant after former state senator Dan Kelly resigned to take a judge’s appointment. The 14th district includes Marion, Mercer, Nelson, Taylor and Washington counties.
