MA: Potential AGs Ready Runs

The field to succeed Martha Coakley, should she win the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s vacant seat next month, is starting to shape up as Bristol District Attorney Sam Sutter says he’s ramping up a run for the state’s top law enforcement job.

Sutter released a statement last night saying he’s “considering” running for attorney general if Coakley defeats Republican state Sen. Scott Brown in the Jan. 19 election. A former defense attorney in his first term as the South Coast’s top prosecutor, Sutter would be the second DA in the race, joining Norfolk District Attorney William Keating, who has already said he’s running.
