From the Phoenix Business Journal:
State Sen. Pam Gorman, R-Phoenix, said Monday she is running for the congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. John Shadegg.
Gorman is a conservative state senator from north Phoenix. Shadegg said last week he would not seek another term in a U.S. House district that includes Anthem, north and west Phoenix and Paradise Valley.
“Nationalized health care, corporate bailouts, out of control deficits, cap and trade; the list of irresponsible policies coming out of Washington continues to grow with each passing day,” Gorman said in a statement announcing her congressional bid. “If the last year has convinced me of anything, it’s that the politicians in Washington are out of control. They are steering our country down a road that threatens not only our prosperity but the future prosperity of our children and grandchildren in ways that many of us could never have imagined. It has to stop.”
