Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt secured endorsements Friday from moderate and conservative Republican legislative leaders in his bid for attorney general.
Schmidt, an Independence Republican, is one of two candidates for the GOP nomination. Ralph DeZago, a Herington attorney, is also in the race. The winner in the August primary would likely oppose Democratic Attorney General Steve Six, of Lawrence.
“Support for my campaign spans the spectrum of the Republican Party,” Schmidt said. “Working together, we’re going to bring responsible, Republican leadership to the attorney general’s office.”
