MI: AG Cox Leads Republicans in Race for Governor

A new Epic/MRA poll has some very interesting information about the race for governor in Michigan.

The poll, which was of 400 likely Democratic voters and 400 likely Republican voters, showed that Attorney General Mike Cox is leading the Republican candidates with 26 percent. U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra is in second place with 22 percent and Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard is in third place with 13 percent. None of the other GOP candidates poll above 3 percent.

On the Democratic side, U of M Trustee Denise Illitch leads the pack with 17 percent support, with the trio of Speaker of the Michigan House Andy Dillon, U.S. Rep. Gary Peters and U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak all at 6 percent. Stupak has already said he is not going to run. Dillon is widely expected to declare his candidacy soon. Peters is not expected to enter the race.
