Though even the primary election is more than two years away, the 2012 field of Indiana gubernatorial hopefuls has an early frontrunner: Republican Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman.
The former state senator from Bedford lent weight to rumors that she plans to enter the race. “Right now, I’m leaning toward running,” Skillman said.
Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Dan Parker said Thursday that though 2012 is “an eternity away,” Skillman would be a formidable opponent.
