From The Palmetto Scoop:
With less than two weeks until filing begins for all state and local offices, it appears South Carolina Democrats are going to concede the state attorney general’s office to Republicans.
After running a not-so-successful campaign to become the state’s top prosecutor, 1st Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe said on Friday that he would not file for the office.
“It’s a very simple reason,” Pascoe told the Orangeburg Times and Democrat. “I just want to stay as solicitor.”
There might be another “simple” reason, though: Money. Pascoe’s fledgling campaign raised a meager $500 during the fourth quarter of 2009 and had only $2,600 on hand.
