From StatesmanJournal.com:
When filings closed earlier this month for the May 18 primary, virtually every one of the 60 House seats and 16 Senate seats up for election this year were contested.
Only three House seats drew no challengers at all. They are Democratic Rep. Lew Frederick of Portland, the House’s newest member; Republican Rep. Cliff Bentz of Ontario, who’s seeking a second full term, and Republican Wally Hicks of Grants Pass, who hasn’t been in the House yet. Hicks will succeed Republican Rep. Ron Maurer, who’s leaving after two terms in a bid for the nonpartisan office of state schools superintendent.
Two other House seats have Republican primary contests, but no Democrat is running. Republican Rep. Bill Garrard of Klamath Falls has a primary challenger. Two Republicans are seeking to succeed Rep. George Gilman of Medford, who’s retiring after five terms.
