Arizona House and Senate committees have approved legislation authorizing Gov. Jan Brewer to challenge the federal health care overhaul in court.
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a pair of bills Tuesday on a 4-2 party-line vote. The House Appropriations Committee approved similar bills on an 8-4 party-line vote. The measures next go to the House and Senate floors and could be considered as early as Wednesday. All 53 Republicans in both chambers have signed on as co-sponsors.
Democratic Attorney General Terry Goddard has declined to join more than a dozen other states in filing suit to block President Barack Obama’s health overhaul bill.
