Illinois needs revenue – there are only a few ways to get it, lotteries (which the state already has), higher taxes, and gaming. There should be lots of folks – businesses and individuals who are sweating this time in Illinois government.

Mass transit riders anxious about looming fare increases and service cuts will have to sweat it out a while longer because lawmakers aren’t back in session until the end of the week and on Monday there was no apparent deal to come up with more money.Lawmakers have been at a standstill over transit funding and a massive statewide construction program because the Democrats who control Springfield can’t resolve their differences over how to pay for them.
