From Tennessean.com:
Control of the state House of Representatives, the U.S. Congress and the governor’s office could hang in the balance as Tennessee’s political races heat up with the start of summer.
Democrats and Republicans will wrestle over nearly 60 seats in the state legislature, as well as two open seats in Congress and the right to succeed Gov. Phil Bredesen, in a five-month sprint to the general election Nov. 2.
With the adjournment of the state legislature, campaigning moved into full swing this week.
“Summer is usually, traditionally the start of the campaign cycle,” said Chip Forrester, chairman of the Tennessee Democratic Party. “Summer begins and you want to launch the elections off with enthusiasm.”
Not much of a wrestling match, really. TN trended redder even during the 2008 Obama landslide. It is more of a case of by how much the GOP will cement their majority in the state legislature, and how badly the Democrat candidate for governor will be beaten.
